STAND FIRM
“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.”
Ephesians 6:11 NLT
The Bible says “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” (James 1:5) So, I asked and I was encouraged to study Jehoshaphat.
Let me pause for a second and say I don’t know everything about the Bible. I’m learning about God and His word everyday. It’s actually the most exciting part of my day when I learn something new. There is a word for just about anything if we seek it. That really blows my mind.
I was praying for wisdom about a decision I needed to make. However, I got more than what I asked for.
Isn’t that just like God!
Let me reign this in and get to the point. Jehoshaphat was a King who loved, obeyed and sought God’s heart.
The Word says:
Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.
2 Chronicles 20:15
Then it says:
“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.”
2 Chronicles 20:17
Jehoshaphat wasn’t perfect. Neither am I. He made some bad alliances which I’m sure we all have but that proves why we need to pray for discernment on who to trust. (We really should be praying for discernment concerning every area of our lives.) Bad company corrupts good morals(1 Corinthians 15:33). I wasn’t expecting that part but I must have needed it. I am truly grateful for the relationships I have. Especially the ones that encourage me to seek God’s word for myself, pray with and for me and celebrate victories. That’s important. We can talk about that more later.
Thank you Loves!
I learned a few more things about Jehoshaphat but the most important lesson I took was:
This battle is not mine. It belongs to God.
STAND FIRM on whatever God has instructed you to do and watch how God saves you.
