When you look in the mirror, what do you see?

Me and my brother just had a conversation about God’s original design for mankind. It stemmed from starting to read the Bible from the beginning. Genesis 1:27 says,

So, God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them.

Now, let me be the first to admit I WAS guilty of allowing the world to dictate who I was or better yet, who I thought I was and even who I should be. I WAS also guilty of comparing myself and my life to what I saw on TV and social media. It really is a false depiction of what God created us to be and causes doubt, insecurities and fears to corrupt what God considered His handiwork.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

If the enemy can distort your view of who you are, it can destroy your destiny. I recently learned what a Plum line tool was used for. Builders use it to ensure their construction is aligned properly. The very next day I was reading my Bible and came across Amos 7:7-8 which says,

“Then he showed me another vision. I saw the Lord standing beside a wall that had been built using a plumb line. He was using a plumb line to see if it was still straight. And the Lord said to me, “Amos, what do you see?”

I answered, “A plumb line.”

And the Lord replied, “I will test my people with this plumb line. I will no longer ignore all their sins.

Most of us are trying to be what the world deems successful or good instead of adhering to the standard that has already been established. What does GOD say about you?

He says we are His.

Psalms 100:3 NLT says, "Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture".

He says we are chosen.

1 Thessalonians 1:4 NLT says, “We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people.”

He says we are light.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Matthew 5:14

He says we are complete.

Colossians 2: 10 NLT says, “So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.”

He says we are special to Him.

 1 Peter 2:9 NLT says, But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,[a] a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

The lists go on and on and I could try and name them all. However, I encourage you to find out more about what God says about you for yourself and let that be your standard from here on out.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
