DON’T BE DISTRACTED!

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Colossians 3:2 KJV

I know it’s been a minute since I last felt the need to share. However, I have been what I am now encouraging you not to be, distracted. You’d be surprised at what can be considered a distraction. It’s not always the big hits that take your breath away. Sometimes, the distractions can be subtle and grow like a simple thought.

Well, lately I’ve experienced both the simple/subtle ones and one that took my breath away.

But God!

He will use any circumstance to speak with you, reposition you and work it for your good. God is so good!! He really is. Life is already hard; I couldn’t imagine having to do it without Him and I never will. My purpose is to encourage you not to do life without God as well.

You will keep the man in perfect peace whose mind is kept on You, because he trusts in You.

Isaiah 26:3

I know I’ve said it before but it’s worth repeating because sometimes you need to be reminded. I know I do, but every time I get distracted my focus has shifted. I unintentionally made my circumstances bigger than the God who has the whole world in His hands. I, yes little ole me thought I could figure it all out on my own based off what I already knew. I was wrong. Everyday requires new mercies, new grace, new strength, new directions and new peace. That only comes by intentionally getting before the Father and asking, “What do you need me to do today Lord”. Then, be still long enough to hear His instructions. Slow down. It’s ok to trust the process.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.

Romans 5:3

It ALL has a purpose. I can promise you that because I know Him as promise keeper. He’s not a man that He should lie so His Word CAN NOT return void. I know God will make a way because I know Him as a way maker. I’m proof that He can make a way even when I couldn’t see it for myself. If you need healing, He’s a healer too!! There is nothing too hard for our God.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

I’m learning to go to God first about everything including my distractions. Every day He reveals something new about His character through His Word and I am learning something new about me every day too. Instead of focusing on all the issues of life, I encourage you to shift your focus to the one who gives life and gives it more abundantly.
