PASS YOUR TEST
I wrote to you as I did to test you and see if you would fully comply with my instructions.
2 Corinthians 2:9 NLT
By definition a test is a procedure intended to establish the quality, performance, or reliability of something especially before it is taken into widespread use.
Especially before it is taken into widespread use.
I recently had a conference with one of my son’s teachers. I asked was there anything I should be helping him with. She told me that the class is able to use their tablets which included all the answers. They just have to go and look them up. She encouraged me to have my son slow down and take his time so he can find the correct answers. I followed her instructions and empowered my son to do what she advised. He obeyed and we saw instant improvements.
Life is one big test, but we were giving a textbook with all the answers. The trials in our lives good and bad become lessons to learn from. I’ve learned a lot of lessons in a short period of time and I’m grateful for them all. We can reference them for the future if they work and if they don’t, we can go back to the text for instructions.
We listen to our parents, teachers, pastors and those of governmental authority but do we listen to God. Can you even hear Him when He speaks? And when He does will you obey?
“Shut it all down.”
The voice was calm but stern. And I knew exactly what that meant. Immediately, I obeyed. The what ifs didn’t matter. I knew there was a reason for the demand even if I didn’t understand at the moment. However, I did understand.
Nothing comes before Him. Exodus 34.14
He needed me to the point where I could hear His voice. Isaiah 30:21
My response mattered. 1 Samuel 15:22
Obedience is better than sacrifice. Even if you have to do it all by yourself and if no one understands. I shut it all down because nothing matters without Him. I shut it all down because just like my son, I needed to slow down and look up the answers that were already given to me. It had a purpose. He reveals and confirms His word. I’m so grateful for a loving, intentional and faithful Father who knows me. He knows what we need when we need it and how to get our attention. Whatever comes next, You have all of me. I’m studying to pass every test.
